Today’s speaker told about the Cookstove Project

Mother cooks on clay stove while holding baby. Clay stoves reduce pollution and lung disease Each year, more than 4.3 million people die as a result of cooking indoors on open fires. That is out of over 3 BILLION people whose only method of preparing food is over an open fire. If all those 3 billion converted to less polluting clay stoves, we would be a great deal closer to stopping climate change. And each stove costs only $10 dollars to build!
